Simba

My latest pet portrait, commissioned by an Instagram follower. Simba recently passed and the client wanted something to gift her father who deeply misses her. Once I received a photo, I couldn’t wait to paint this gorgeous girl.

Starting with an outline, blocking out colours and tone to give me a base to work with, Simba began to take shape. Proceeding with the shadows and highlights, I focused on the eyes which were key to making Simba come to life. I then introduced the textures and built the fluffy coat.

When supplying the proof, Jade was overjoyed and couldn’t believe the likeness. Before preparing for print, I was asked to add Simba’s name and life dates to the piece. Printed on archival fine art paper, Simba was framed and ready for her new home!
